Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All Stars - Anticipated Wii Games Q1 2010

2010 is looking to be one of the most ridiculous years we’ve ever seen for game releases. The amount of promising titles coming out is nothing short of intimidating. It is entirely possible that you may drown in quality titles. But remain calm.

We here at WingDamage are here to throw you a life preserver of information. So grab a hold of our list of Wii releases below and you just might survive the first three months of 2010.

Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon

“Fragile Dreams looks to be a lonely journey. In a post-apocalyptic world, a young boy named Seto must wander the now empty city trying to find out what happened to its inhabitants. Seto must search the dark, fog ridden city with his flashlight (controlled by the wiimote) for objects, sketches, and short stories that contain the memories of their former owners. While the game features some mechanics similar to Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Fragile Dreams was actually conceived three years before the Wii platform’s release and has been in development for a long time.” -Jesse

Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All Stars

“For those of us that have played the import of Tatsunoko vs Capcom, you already know that it is a another solid effort in the 2D fighting genre from Capcom. If you are unfamiliar, but are a fan of Marvel vs Capcom 2, you should know what to expect. They have made this game an over-the-top free for all with crazy characters, tag-teaming and a simplified control scheme that makes it easy for even the most casual to pick up and play. This version has an expanded roster (though they lost a few due to licensing) and balance tweaks making even those that imported it drool over this newest edition.” -Jonah

Sin & Punishment 2: Successor of the Universe

“The is the “dream sequel” to the import cult classic, Sin & Punishment: Successor of the Earth. Judging by the trailers, though, a more accurate title would be Sin & Punishment 2: Successor of Star Fox 64. With the addition of flying (via a jetpack or hoverboard depending on the character), Treasure takes the sequel in a much more agile direction. Players will be able to fly in this new, over-the-top rail shooter as they reflect missiles bigger than themselves back at the giant, ridiculous monsters they came from. And if the level of challenge Treasure is known for isn’t enough (spoiler: it will be), you can aim for the high score on the game’s online leaderboards.” -Jesse

Red Steel 2

“A cool, futuristic western setting, a unique art style, and some sweet combat featuring guns and swords; Red Steel 2 looks to push the series in a bold and striking new direction. The first FPS to really take advantage of the new Wii Motion Plus, Red Steel 2 looks to replicate your movements the way you imagined the first time you saw the Wii Remote. Finally promising true 1:1 recognition, this could very well be the revolutionary FPS Wii fans have been dreaming about since launch day” -Dave

Monster Hunter Tri

“The Monster Hunter series has been a staple of the PSP, especially in Japan. While the games are fun single player, they really shine when you can get a party of friends together to go take down giant monsters. The new Wii version allows you to play split screen for some couch co-op, or go online and play with up to four of your friends. Since Capcom is using their own servers, you won’t even have to deal with friend codes! Monster Hunter Tri looks like it could quite possibly be this console generation’s Phantasy Star Online.” -Jonah

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle

“From the twisted mind of Suda51 comes the follow up to 2008′s bizarre brawler. Stylish visuals return in spades in No More Heroes 2. Travis Touchdown will have several different weapon styles this time around including dual wielding beam katanas and even a giant beam katana. The sequel features multiple playable characters, more varied sidequests, and more outrageous wrestling move finishers than ever. Take on a football player that transforms into a giant mech, a guy with a ghetto blaster that transforms into robotic arms, and a bunch of other ridiculous bosses in this utterly absurd game.” -Jesse

After some hands-on with Tats vs. Capcom, I have to say that I am thoroughly impressed that it replicates fairly deep fighting action with the Wii’s bundled controllers. It’s awfully, awfully fun.
