Barrel Roll! #108 - “Technical Difficulties-cast”

2

On this, the one-hundred and eighth podcast in our series, “Barrel Roll! A Video Game Podcast”, we are lucky to make it out with our recording in-tact.

Dropped Skype calls, crashing computers, and more conspired to destroy our episode. But nothing can get our plucky hosts down as they talk Dogfighter, Portal: Still Alive, Gods Eater Burst, Winter Voices, Marvel VS Capcom 3 DLC and a lot more PokéMon.

That plus the new games this week on the latest podcastasode!

    Jesse "Main Finger" Gregory says:

“The arcade version of Strider was part of a three-way project conceived in a collaboration between Capcom and Hiroshi Motomiya’s manga studio Moto Kikaku, which also included the Strider Hiryu manga by Moto Kikaku’s Tatsumi Wada that was published in Kodansha’s Comic Computique anthology in Japan”

Turns out Strider has some of its rights held by this manga studio apparently. Though I imagine if Capcom wanted him in bad enough, they’d make it happen.

Funny, Jessie and I end up playing the same game. I agree that God eater is different enough that it seems like it can stand on it own; though I do feel that there are some flaws or lack of polish in the game, similar to how I felt with the earlier monster hunter games(freedom 2). Like with controls or the camera or the variety of monsters.

The game also throws more Aragami(monsters) at really early in the game. I’m just at Difficult 3 and there are already missions where there’s 4 large Aragamis that have multiple parts you can break and they all come at you at once. It gets pretty chaotic.
