On a very futuristic episode of “Barrel Roll! A Video Game Podcast”, the show has an extra D! Not only do we give a rundown of Nintendo’s new 3DS, even our “What We’ve Been Playing” bumper is in 3D. It’s more D’s than you can handle.

The guys talk Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, Ridge Racer 3D, Pilotwings Resort, Steel Diver, and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Shadow Wars.

They also talk a little about GIRP, the amazing new frustration based game from the guys that brought us QWOP.

One question that’s been bugging me about the 3DS (and is frankly putting me off buying it) is the fact that it’s region locked.

Not only because it’ll prevent me from importing games but also because - if I’m right - I’ll no longer be able to play online with other regions, does anyone know if this is the case?

I think Jesse has played Street Fighter IV 3D against people in other countries. Can you confirm/deny this, Jesse?

    Jesse "Main Finger" Gregory says:

Cartridges are region locked. Online multiplayer is not (unless the developers of the specific game you’re playing make it that way).

When playing SSFIV3D there is even a lobby setting for whether or not you want to fight people in only your region or people in all regions.
