Game Idea: Sharks on Wheels

Do you ever have one of those little flashes of inspiration? Where you are sitting there doing some random thing and you think “I have a great idea for a game.”
Well, here at Wingdamage.com we are all about gamers and gamer culture. I think a big part of being a gamer is thinking up your own ideas for what would make a great game. So with that in mind, I thought we could have some fun and share some of our ideas about games we have thought up. To start us off, I thought it would be fun to share with everyone an idea I had for an XBLA or PSN game.
The basic premise is that there are sharks on wheels, hence the title.
The goal is simple, your sharks are trying to eat all of the opposing players sharks and vice versa. The way it works is similar to a standard pool game, in that the sharks will bounce off the walls like a billiard ball. The strategy portion comes in that sharks can only eat other sharks with a side attack, a straight on head to head attack results in both sharks exploding. If you send your sharks out too early, or too far, they run the risk of being eaten. You also have to decide when you need to sacrifice a shark to explode an opposing shark. So it would pay to plan ahead.
The levels would consist of various tables. The tables could have all kinds of shapes and layouts to change up the feel of each level. Bumpers would be placed all over to change up the angles and to force players to use ricochets. There could even be special bumpers that will send your shark careening off in unexpected ways.
As you play through the single player game you can personalize your sharks by unlocking different accessories. From sombreros to fake mustaches. You can also get new equipment for your wheels, like rims and flame decals. This gives people an incentive to learn the game’s mechanics and play through the story
I think multiplayer would be absolutely essential. The game would work best in 2-4 player matches, although a giant table with 16 players taking turns sending their sharks careening around the level sounds pretty awesome to me.
A level editor would be a must. Change the tables dimensions or add trick bumpers everywhere. You could set up levels any way you want and upload them so others can download them and check them out. Players could vote on which tables they like best, so that others know which ones to try out.
When the game ends the whole table explodes, just as all things should.
So there it is my little idea for a game. Do you have any crazy game ideas? If so email me at shaolinjesus@wingdamage.com and maybe your game idea could be featured in an upcoming article.

Jonah "spambot" Gregory says:This is the strangest and most wonderful idea for a game I’ve heard in a long time.
My idea is to do 2 Here There Be Robots games. One is a point-and-click adventure game with lots of wackyness and voice actors hand picked by Jeremy and me. (Cameo by Gilbert Gottfried, naturally)
The second is starring Oscar, Rob and Miranda as playable characters in a Metal Slug style shooter. Miranda is better with long range weapons, Rob is good at close range attacks, and Oscar uses his words as his super weapon. Also, break-dancing is involved in the Lackey boss battle.
