Marvel Characters That SHOULD be in Marvel vs Capcom 3
The Marvel Vs Capcom games have featured some of the biggest stars in the Marvel universe. Everyone from Spider-Man to Wolverine to Captain America has had the chance to throw down with Mega Man and Ryu.
But as a comic fan, I can’t help but think about some of the amazing Marvel characters that haven’t been given the chance to whoop Tron Bonne’s ass. I have tried not to restrain myself to characters that I feel would make a great addition to the cast.
So hit the jump to see them in all their second tier not quite A-List glory.
Luke Cage
Luke Cage is one of the coolest, most bad ass characters in the Marvel universe. Luke Cage should be in MVC3 because of his amazing 70′s Power Man costume. Look at that thing. That is clearly the greatest super hero costume in the history of costumery. Beating your friend with a Hyper Combo is nice and all, but isn’t even more important to look good when you’re doing it?
Iron Fist
It is a rule that you can’t have Power Man without his partner Iron Fist. It would be like having Ren without Stimpy, Chip without Dale, or Beavis without Butthead. You just can’t do it. Besides, Iron Fist is Marvel’s resident Kung Fu master. It make since that he should be in a game about people punching each other in the face. His special moves would involve massive punches from his flaming iron fist.
Daredevil
Never mind that his costume will look gorgeous on your new fancy pants HDTV‘s. Forget the fact that he has been the star of some of the greatest comics of all time. I don’t even care that he is practically a freakin ninja. In just pure gameplay terms Daredevil would be amazing. Just imagine this special move (I call it the Lights Out because I’m a cheese ball) the lights go out and all we see is the sonar echo of Daredevil punching his opponent in the face. If done correctly this would look awesome.
Hitman Monkey
Imagine a heavily armed monkey hitman bouncing all over the screen firing away. I’ll repeat for emphasis, a heavily armed hitman monkey. If that is not enough to convince you then you either hate monkeys or you hate awesome. Possibly both.
Aaron Stack/Machine Man
Although he is unknown to virtually everyone, Machine Man is a cross between Inspector Gadget and HK 47. He is a swiss army knife of destruction, and has a general disdain for humans as well. It would be worth having him in just to hear him talk trash and call his opponents fleshy ones. If that isn’t enough the unlockable Monica Rambeau costume should seal the deal.
Ms. Marvel
Beyond the pure aesthetics of Ms. Marvel (who looks marvelous) her energy absorption powers lend themselves to some interesting gameplay mechanics. Projectile attacks could replenish her health which would lead to all sorts of gameplay strategies.
Hercules
Although he has generally been a D-List player in the Marvel universe, the original Prince of Power has come on strong lately with a high profile take-over of Incredible Hulk. Hercules is the father of Pankration the ancient Greek version of MMA, so Herc should play like a cross between Thor and Zangief with more beer drinking.
Amadeus Cho
Is being really smart a super power? You might believe so after you’ve seen Amadeus Cho in action. According to Reed Richards, Cho is the 7th smartest person on the planet. By putting his prodigious brain to work, Amadeus can perform calculations of almost unimaginable complexity. This enables him to do things like take out a helicopter with a well thrown rock. While being really good at math might not seem like a great skill to have in a fighting game, imagine precision attacks bouncing all over the walls.
Scrooge McDuck
First off nephews Huey, Duey, and Louie would be the perfect assist characters. Scrooge’s cane attacks would be amazing, and for projectiles he could drop bags off money out of the sky on his enemies heads. There is a perfect symmetry to Scrooge appearing in MVC. Capcom released the NES Ducktales games, and Marvel is now owned by Disney. So Scrooge works in both ways. There is no way you can convince me that this is a bad idea.
