Giveaway: Win a free Copy of Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes (PS3)

It’s that classic situation you’ve had nightmares about. Your essay on the Sengoku Period for your Japanese History class is due, and you haven’t even started studying the subject yet. What’s a student to do?

Instead of reading boring ‘ol books, why not play Capcom’s study aid, Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes? Insert this learning tool into your Playstation 3, and within minutes you’ll be able to answer such questions as “Which General is actually a robot?”, “What magical element does Yukimura Sanada use?”, and “At what battlefield did Masamune Date declare a One Eyed Dragon Party Time?”

Don’t worry about the cash! We have a free copy waiting for one of the commenters on this post. Simply read the rules below and tell us both a historical period and how you’d like to see it spiced up. For example, how about adding ninjas to the American Civil War?

Contest Rules:

1. Leave a comment below and tell us a historical period and how you would spice it up (example: “American Civil War with ninjas”)
2. Limit one entry per person
3.
All entries must be made by legal U.S. residents
4.
Entries must be accepted by 5:00pm PST on Friday, November 5th. We will then randomly select one winner

Good luck! And don’t forget to check out our review!

Psst: My submission doesn’t count, but I’ll share my thoughts anyway.

I always thought it would be awesome to show the Wars of the Roses with a Warriors franchise twist. The closest we’ve ever come to such games is Final Fantasy Tactics and Bladestorm: The Hundred Years’ War, but they don’t capture the insane amounts of detail Dynasty Warriors has.

I could definitely see both armies having their own key characters outside of heirs to the throne. Adding the stylized look from the Warriors games would make some look very buff (Rhys ap Thomas could be a giant wielding a massive poleaxe, for example) or extremely slender and speedy (Jack Cade).

There’s almost as much potential in that story as there is in the Sengoku period, so that could definitely be a change from seeing China or Japanese isles.

World War II and pretty much just add everything from Wolfenstien to like Hitler in a robot body and the crazy Veil magic from the latest game.

The Crusades anime’ed out (large swords and armor). And there’s metal music eminating from somewhere all the time.

The events of the Revolutionary War, transpiring in the not too distant future. Have all the familiar faces, with all the badass-ness of awesome sci fi, and all the grittiness of gritty war games. Imagine Washington crossing the delaware…armed with body armor and a rifle, backed by a whole team of SEALs. Benjamin Franklin in a mechanized battle suit. Paul Revere riding through the streets telling people the British are coming…ON A BADASS MOTORCYCLE. DOING WHEELIES. THE WHOLE WAY.

    Nathaniel Bowman says:

The U.S. Women’s Suffrage movement with Samus Aran (preferably the Metroid Prime or Super Smash Bros. Brawl version) on their side.

I bet it wouldn’t have taken anywhere near as long to succeed. ;)

Current war on terror with nerf weapons would be nice. I bomb on a plane would be a confetti party instead of an international incident. Close quarters combat with involve a shotgun burst of suction darts denoting captures. How can terrorists hate America if we fought with suction cups and foam balls.

Didn’t stop me from posting my ideas, Heat. I actually HAVE a PS3, but I already own the game. (So yeah, if anyone draws my name just skip to the next person)

I want to see how you’ll manage to mention Zero or Reploids in relation to a real-world war.
