Movie Ideas: Guitar Hero the Movie

"I can play on expert!"
Before you turn around and run away screaming, hear me out. I think that a Guitar Hero movie could be awesome and hilarious. I have always found these kind of comedies work best when people are taking ridiculous things way too seriously. I envision a whole group of people who are taking their plastic guitar playing way too seriously. I am talking full on guitar hero groupies who faint when Star Power is activated.
The movie would be about Nate, an uber geeky guy, who basically lives and breathes Guitar Hero. His room is covered with posters of 80′s hair metal bands and various plastic guitar controllers. He competes at the local competitions and dominates the various kids that come to play. If you have ever seen the movie “Eagle vs Shark”, think of the Eagle. Or if you haven’t seen that one, think of a slightly cooler and more in touch with reality Napoleon Dynamite. He is brash and cocky about his abilities. He brags to people that he is the best and that he can do songs on expert. The guitar hero groupies swoon but there is one girl who seems put off by his arrogance. She is of course the love interest.
I picture a cute but geeky girl who sees past the guitar hero player and sees the man within. As he begins to open up to her, she begins to fall for him. The scenes between them would be awkwardly romantic. In one scene, he is serenading her with his Guitar Hero skills. In another, he comes to her job to surprise her with Slurpees.
Just when it seems that the movie is becoming too romantic, a new, even geekier guy shows up in town and crushes our hero in a one on one plastic guitar battle. This defeat brings Nate’s world crashing down all around him. He has based his entire self image on being the best. To come back, our hero must learn to look within to find the way to defeat his rival. This would be accompanied by an awesome 80′s training montage with music from Stan Bush (as all 80′s montages should be). In the montage, we see Nate running up a mountain and lifting weights for no apparent reason. There would be some cameos from big time guitarists like Slash or Eddy Van Halen offering advice about looking within oneself to unleash the ROCK within.
The final battle would feature intense close-ups of sweat drenched faces as the 2 titans of simulated guitar clash upon a stage to a dozen screaming fans (and their parents). The battle ends as Nate drops to his knees and activates Star Power. This, of course, releases fireworks and sparks across the back of the stage. After the battle, the 2 shake hands and agree to a rematch (sequel time anyone?). Nate then takes his girl in his arms, kisses her, and then drops to his knee and pulls out a ring. “Will you ROCK my world forever?” he asks as she breaks down in tears and shouts, “Yes!” The crowd cheers and even the parents are clapping and whistling.
The movie would have to have a videogame tie in which should, of course, be a 2-D platformer where you fight dinosaurs, Nazis, and Nazi Dinosaurs with your guitar. I think the combination of Guitar Hero the Movie and Guitar Hero the Movie: The Game would be a potent media force.
