Our Favorite Games of 2011
What was the best game of the year? It’s something that gamers worldwide will argue over for the next several weeks. You have, and will continue to see, numerous ”Top 10″ lists plastered over every gaming blog on the internet.
This year, we at WingDamage.com wanted to take a little different approach. 2011 was a fantastic year for gaming. You could pick up nearly any new release (or digital only release for that matter) and come away pretty happy with your purchase. While this is a fantastic problem to have, it does make narrowing down and ordering a “Top 10″ list a harrowing endeavor.
Instead, this year we’ve decided to give you a quick rundown of a few of our favorite games in no particular order. If we missed your favorite game, please let us know in the comments.
Barrel Roll! #135 - “Captain America’s Epic Yarn”
Bursting into action, Captain America takes on the unstoppably adorable forces of Red Skull and his giant teddy bear army in the latest episode of the Barrel Roll show!
Wes returns to tell the tale of Captain America Super Soldier. But before we can get into that it must be told that Jesse and Jonah are also back (as per usual) to bring us the latest in the same games they’ve been playing the last several weeks. This includes Disgaea 4 and Xenoblade Chronicles, but has expanded into Jesse returning to, and finishing Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies. His Dragon Quest inspired mood was brought on, not only by the recent info about part ten, but also on the fact that his import copy of Dragon Quest Collection has arrived.
In an attempt to keep things “funky fresh”, Jonah has invested some time into Jetpack Joyride and Swords & Soldiers HD as well. When he wasn’t busy pummeling Nazis, Wes also delved into Icarus and Quarrel. Two great tastes that taste great together.
All that plus the news, new games this week, and the winner of our Bastion soundtrack giveaway is picked on Barrel Roll! #135, “Captain America’s Epic Yarn”.

Barrel Roll! #134 - “Shoot Shoot Jump Man”
This week on the show, Jonah, Jesse and Wes are joined by Mike Bachmann of “A Fistful of Pixels“. He also wrote a review for WingDamage that one time.
On our “What Games We Played” segment of the show, Jesse finally gets around to talking about Xenoblade Chronicles and its amazing, super-British localization. Wes and Mike both give us their feelings on the new Jetpack Joyride. Jonah talks about Space Marine and how many times the game says “Space Marine”, which it does with a surprising frequency. Mike has also been playing Dead Island and gives us the good with the bad. Finally, our “Let’s Play Together” returns for talk of the recent XBLA release of Radiant Silvergun.
The guys also discuss the new releases of the week and the gaming news. All this and more on Barrel Roll #134, “Shoot Shoot Jump Man”.

Barrel Roll! #133 - “They’re All In Purgatory”
On the one-hundred and thirty-third episode of the Barrel Roll show, Jonah is incredibly distracted by a teething baby. There may also have been some discussion of video games, or it was all a dream. Possibly, the guys were actually dead the entire time and in purgatory.
After the news and new games coming out this week, Wes returns to give us his Borderlands progress. He also redid our intro song using Cambox and does a comparison with Vidrhythym. Adam Milecki is back to tell us about Rock of Ages, Section 8: Prejudice and his initial impressions of Bastion. Jesse finished Deus Ex: Human Revolution, played the crap out of some Star Fox 64 3D and also gives us the rundown of SkyDrift. Meanwhile, Jonah was sucked into Disgaea 4 and may never be heard from again.
