Barrel Roll #166 – “The Duke of Jerk”
A calamity has struck. The human race as we know it seems to have disappeared. That is, except for three resourceful podcasters. How long can they survive before being consumed by swarms of wild pomeranians?
Jonah, Jesse, and Adam Anania pool their resources to survive this harsh future while also managing to talk about video games. Adam went to TGS to try out Earth Defense Force 4 and Rockman Xover before heading home with Monster Hunter 3G (soon to be 3 Ultimate), The Denpa Men, and the enhanced vita port of Earth Defense Force 2017. Jonah gets his loot on with Torchlight 2 and Borderlands 2. Jesse gets welcomed to the jungle with Tokyo Jungle and Rayman Jungle Run. And the brothers Gregory have a great time with Dead or Alive 5 while simultaneously swallowing the embarrassment induced by its characters.
All this along with nerd stalkers, Dragon’s Dogma anecdotes, and more on episode #166 of Barrel Roll: “The Duke of Jerk”.

Barrel Roll #159 - “Contractual Obligation 4: E3 Talk 2012″
E3 happened, and you know what that means: we are once again contractually obligated to talk about the show. This year, none of us were present, but this is the internet, so strong opinions were had by returning guest host Adam Anania and regular normal host Jesse Gregory.
Jonah, while he followed E3 to some extent, didn’t really have too strong of opinions either way, and instead played games from ten years ago. Wes returns as well, and has been bit by the adventure game bug once again in the form of Resonance.
After the dust from E3 has settled, Jonah, Jesse, and Adam get in-depth with their Dragon’s Dogma experience. It is quickly becoming one of their favorite diamonds in the rough.
Oh, and did Jonah mention he got to interview the Two Guys from Andromeda? He was pretty excited about that.

Barrel Roll #158 - “Beware the Brine”

The most dangerous being in Cassardis is not the huge, heart stealing dragon after all, but the infinite number of brine that live just below the water’s surface. There they wait for the unsuspecting traveler to go for a casual dip on a hot summers day. Then they pounce, devouring anything and everything they can get their microscopic mitts on.
In other words, most of the crew played Dragon’s Dogma this week. The crew being Jonah, Jesse, Wes, and the return of Adam Anania. Because fighting Tolkien-esk monsters in one game wasn’t enough, Wes and Jonah also tried their hand at the Tolkien themed “Lord of the Rings” based game, Lord of the Rings: War in the North. Here Jonah played as a Wizard for a change. He also did in Diablo 3 and Torchlight II, both of which he gave a whirl over the last few weeks.
Not to be outdone by sheer number of games played, Wes brings Max Payne 3, Doctor Who Adventure and Portal 2 to the table. He seems to enjoy them all and would recommend them for various audiences based on which ones are age and content appropriate, but that is really your call.

Barrel Roll #156 - “Bizarro Shenmue”
On this, the one-hundred and fifty-sixth excursion into Barrel Roll country, Jesse and Jonah are joined by the internet’s own Michael Bachmann. While Mike was off playing the Diablo III open beta, Jonah and Jesse spent time with the Dragon’s Dogma demo and character creator. Jesse has also finished up Kid Icarus: Uprising while Jonah played through Journey.
There is discussion of Space Quest and Leisure Suit Larry, as well as Bizarro Shenmue, which isn’t a real game, but probably should be.
Getting back to games we actually played, Jesse breaks down Ridge Racer Unbounded and it’s strange drifting mechanics. Jonah started in on The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition on the Xbox 360 while Mike completed the first chapter of The Walking Dead adventure game from Telltale. All this and more on Barrel Roll #156, “Bizarro Shenmue”.

Barrel Roll! #131 - “Wes & Jonah’s Excellent Adventure”
On this one-hundred and thirty-first episode of Barrel Roll, Jonah is joined by returning guest host Wesley Johnson for a most excellent adventure. It seems even though they both graduated high school in the late 90′s, they have to gather up famous figures from history to turn in one final report so they can graduate, start their band, and save the future through bodacious music.
The show starts with the regular news and new game releases, then moves on to our “games what we played last week” segment. There the guys haven’t had time for much new stuff, but have been enjoying Borderlands as well as the SNES classic Earthbound. Jonah has also given the Onlive service a try for the first time and gives his thoughts on that.
After the main show, be sure to stick around! Jesse has just returned from PAX 2011 and is here to give his thoughts on some of the stuff he played there. All that plus more on Barrel Roll #131, “Wes & Jonah’s Excellent Adventure”.

E3 2011: Dragon’s Dogma Hands-On
I’ve been a bit irresponsible when it comes to Dragon’s Dogma. I had my first taste of the game a couple months back while at Captivate 2011. In lieu of there being any Mega Man titles, Dragon’s Dogma was easily my favorite of Capcom’s offerings (and this was still the case at E3). I fully intended to report my impressions on the game back then, but I sort of just… let it fall by the wayside. It would be a travesty to make the same mistake twice, so I’ll now, finally, regale you my impressions along with data I picked up from Captivate.
Barrel Roll #112 - “Space Glasses 2: The Revenge”
Space Glasses are back, and this time, it’s personal.
On our one-hundred and twelfth episode of “Barrel Roll! A Video Game Podcast”, the guys are very opinionated on their video games, particularly when it comes to the latest Nintendo Wii 2: HD Remix: Champions Edition rumors. We also talk about the latest releases of the week.
Later the guys discuss Captivate, which Adam had the opportunity to attend. He gives us his opinions on what he saw, including Asura’s Wrath, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record and Dragon’s Dogma.
Jesse warns everyone to avoid the new Yar’s Revenge and Jonah plays the most Katamari game since Katamari, The Wonderful End of the World.
