Barrel Roll #161 - “Card Battle”
After discussion of this year’s crazy Steam Summer Sale, the guys break into what they are really here to talk about… the Ouya? Maybe? I guess that’s a thing.
On the 3DS front, Jesse and Adam teamed up to play through the Diablo-esk Heroes of Ruin demo. Apparently some mean ghost is giving the other ghosts a hard time. They are just trying to go about their regular afterlives, but that jerk keeps on messing with their stuff. It’s up to your bemohawked lion-man hero to save the day.
Jesse finished Gravity Rush and Oniken, and even managed to find the start-to-prison ratio of Final Fantasy XIII-2. In other words, he’s been busy.
Adam got a care package from Jesse which included the 3DS puzzler Crush 3D, which he seems to have some mixed feelings on. Meanwhile Mike, who isn’t the one in Japan, started playing Phantasy Star Online 2, because he needed another addicting loot based game in his life. He also played through Dyad for review.
Jonah got a Vita and while it came with Uncharted: Golden Abyss, he forsook the playing of it after a brief stint to move on to Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable and Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention. Because taking on two 100+ hour RPGS at the same time seemed like a good idea.

Sound in Action #2 – The Modern JRPG
On the second episode of Sound in Action, I take a moment to examine the modern JRPG. This includes games that have been recently released as well as a few that haven’t yet made it to North America (and some that might never make it). This episode features a mix of in-game music and official arrangements. You’ll also hear me gush a bit about the wonderful Xenoblade soundtrack among others.
You might notice I used better recording equipment this time around so the quality should be substantially better than the first episode. I want to thank everybody who’s given me feedback in comments, tweets, Facebook, and Skype. It means a lot. It was also one of the main motivators for making the show biweekly instead of monthly. That’s right! Your feedback has already come directly into play in the show’s fate. Please keep the feedback coming so I can keep striving to improve the show.
As always, you’ll find the full track list with purchase links at the bottom of the post.

Barrel Roll #149 - “Re-launched”
It’s time for some “real talk”.
We here at WingDamage strive to bring you fun and original content about video games. It’s our favorite thing to blather on about. But there comes a time when you realize that life has gotten significantly busier for you, and your hobbies need to be pushed to the back burner.
That said, we want to continue to record and post new episodes or Barrel Roll, but to continue to do so we have changed a few things. First, it’s a little bit more on the casual/conversational side. We are going to pick a couple topics and see where they take us. This means there may be some tangents. Second, we are going bi-weekly, at least for the time being. The good news is Jesse is also going to attempt to make “Sound In Action” bi-weekly, so you’ll still be getting a new podcast every week. We are also working on the next episode of “I Am Error“, so we got that going on too.
So download the show, enjoy, and leave any and all feedback in the comments below.

PAX Preview: Final Fantasy XIII-2 (PS3, Xbox 360)
Final Fantasy XIII was a highly divisive game when it released last year. I found myself enjoying its finer points, but also finding fault in some of its design leading me to write a rather mixed review. With a sequel on the way, the opportunity for a more consistent experience has been opened.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 takes place three years after the first. Lightning has disappeared and Serah (her previously unplayable little sister) is out to find her with the help of a new character named Noel. The demo wasn’t heavy on exposition, but there was enough talk of “points in time” and “anomalies between dimensions” to pique my interest.
Barrel Roll! #131 - “Wes & Jonah’s Excellent Adventure”
On this one-hundred and thirty-first episode of Barrel Roll, Jonah is joined by returning guest host Wesley Johnson for a most excellent adventure. It seems even though they both graduated high school in the late 90′s, they have to gather up famous figures from history to turn in one final report so they can graduate, start their band, and save the future through bodacious music.
The show starts with the regular news and new game releases, then moves on to our “games what we played last week” segment. There the guys haven’t had time for much new stuff, but have been enjoying Borderlands as well as the SNES classic Earthbound. Jonah has also given the Onlive service a try for the first time and gives his thoughts on that.
After the main show, be sure to stick around! Jesse has just returned from PAX 2011 and is here to give his thoughts on some of the stuff he played there. All that plus more on Barrel Roll #131, “Wes & Jonah’s Excellent Adventure”.
